I am a Democrat because it helps me live a value driven life.  For example, my Bible tells me “For the poor will never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, You shall open wide your hands to your brother, to your needy, and to your poor in your land.”  My fellow Democrats support me in working to live by that.  Democrats make room for everyone.   Democrats educate all children.  They want every child to thrive and have individual opportunities because it is right and good.  It also is an urgent necessity.  Our way of life is based on the foundation of an educated population.  There is talk these days of a fat capitalism and a thin capitalism …meaning a self serving capitalism (thin) and an ‘others’ serving capitalism (fat).  I believe America today is a ‘fat’ democracy battling a ‘thin’ democracy.  Caring about others is the most satisfying and effective way to build a strong country and a good life so I am a Democrat.
